A Proud History of American Sawmill Innovation

HMC Corporation's original founders in the 1950s

From our early days in New Hampshire to becoming a trusted equipment partner for mills across North America, HMC’s story is defined by craftsmanship, durability, and steady innovation.

Built on Tradition. Driven By Progress.

Founded in the early 1950s, HMC has grown from a small fabrication operation into a trusted manufacturer of sawmill equipment serving the forest products industry for more than 70 years. From the beginning, the company has focused on practical, durable solutions that help mills operate more efficiently—continually refining its equipment as technologies, processes, and industry needs have evolved. Built on generations of experience and hands-on expertise, HMC’s history reflects a steady commitment to reliability, craftsmanship, and continuous improvement in an ever-changing industry.

HMC was founded in a New Hampshire barn, producing slab debarkers designed to remove bark from lumber byproducts — transforming what was once considered waste into a valuable resource for paper and wood production.
